SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French shared that the Boise State Family Engineering Night will be happening on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 6:00-7:30 pm at Caldwell High School. On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Caldwell High School will also be hosting the movie Screenagers: Under the Influence. This film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents can use to encourage healthy decision making, support teen mental health, offering solutions for how we can best empower our teens, set limits, and create healthy home environments. Trustees also heard from Julie Mead, Chief Officer of Special Services, about the Districts Next Steps Program. This is formally known as the 18-21 program, and has since moved from Caldwell High School to Canyon Springs High School.


Nick Mendez, Caldwell High School Student Representative, presented to Trustees about the athletics, academics, and activities happening within Caldwell High School. 


Jason Roblero-Lopez, Canyon Springs High School Student Representative, presented to Trustees about the school's attendance campaign, homecoming, and upcoming events.

PATRON INPUT

  • Nicole Tackle provided input on Policy 2140.
  • Jennifer Ceniceros inquired about a new procedure at Caldwell High School regarding taking cell phones when students arrive late.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • CFEO Presentation - Trustees heard from CFEO Board Members and former Caldwell School District students about the financial impacts the Caldwell Foundation for Educational Opportunity has on students within the Caldwell School District. 
  • Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) - Trustees voted to approve the Emergency Operations Plan. 
  • Altria Settlement Offer Packet - Trustees reviewed the information from the Altria Settlement Offer Packet in regards to the JUUL settlement. 
  • Title IX - Board Members heard from Shannon Flower, Director of Human Resources, about the Districts Title IX policy and procedures. 
  • Improving School Culture; Improving District Culture - Dr. French provided Trustees with information and policies that guide the District to help provide a safe learning environment for all students in the Caldwell School District. 
  • 2024 Proposed Resolutions - Trustees reviewed and discussed the 2024 Proposed Idaho School Board Association Resolutions for the upcoming ISBA Convention. 
  • Future Agenda Items - Positive Behavior Intervention System
