ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET HEARING

  • Cheryl Sanderson, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Annual School District Budget to Trustees. The Budget Hearing included information about budget assumptions, benefits, supplemental levy, and a four year summary.
  • Public Comment Regarding 2023-2024 Proposed Budget - Nicole Trakel and Nicole Hyland provided input and asked questions regarding the 2023-2024 proposed budget. 

 

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French provided Trustees with information about the 2023 National Mariachi Education Workshop. Two educators will be attending this conference at the end of the month. The plan is to provide Mariachi Band classes for the 2024-2025 school year. Dr. French also introduced Shelli Rambo, Principal at Canyon Springs High School, and Julie Mead, Director of Special Services to Trustees.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • Approval of the 2023-2024 Proposed Budget - Trustees voted to approve the 2023-2024 Proposed Budget. 
  • JMS Request to Travel - Jennifer Condel, Art Teacher at Jefferson Middle School, provided Board Members with information on the District’s Washington, D.C trip. The trip includes opportunities for hands-on interaction with the history and landmarks students may have only seen in the classroom. Trustees voted to approve the Request to Travel to Washington, D.C. by Jennier Condel.
  • EL Program Update - Shani Cummins, EL Program Coordinator, provided Trustees with information on the growth and achievement of the English Learner Proficiency Assessment. Students who are involved in Latinos in Action (LIA) also provided Board Members with information about the new program at Caldwell High School and their recent trip to Salt Lake City. LIA provides students with leadership opportunities, college and career readiness, and community service. 
  • Federal Programs Update - Tamara Lawson, Director of Federal Programs, updated Board Members about fund allocations and monitoring reviews on the District’s Federal Programs.
  • Future Agenda Items - Trustees did not discuss any future agenda items.
