Below is a summary of the Caldwell School District Board of Trustees, June 26, 2023, Special Board Meeting intended to provide information about board decisions in a timely manner. It is not the official record. The recorded livestream of the meeting is available here.

True Leaders in Equity Institute - Maylee McConnell-Soong and Keira Ferro provided Trustees with an update on their True Leaders in Equity Project. Their project focused on food and nutrition insecurity in high school athletics. In partnership with the University of Idaho Extension Program, Maylee and Keira provided the track team at Caldwell High School with new water bottles and over 200 nutritious snack bags for use at practices and during track meets. They also conducted a formal University of Idaho institutional review, board approved pre and post survey with their peers. They plan to expand and grow this project throughout their high school career.  

Personnel Report - Trustees voted to approve the Personnel report. 

Kiwanis Scholarship Award - Trustees thanked Abigail Aguirre and Paul Victoriano for being the first Caldwell School District Board of Trustees Student Representatives. Both Paul and Abigail were awarded a $1,000 college scholarship from the Caldwell Kiwanis. 

Magnet School Idea - Trustees heard from Dr. Matt McDaniel, Lewis and Clark Principal, about the opportunity for the Caldwell School District to consider a magnet school. Board Members began this conversation back in 2019, which was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Trustees plan to continue this discussion. 

T-Mobile Funds - Dr. French provided Trustees with ideas on how the District can use the $200,000 of T-Mobile Funds. Board Members discussed their thoughts and ideas on the best ways to use the funds.

Field Trip(s) - Trustees voted to approve the Caldwell High School Wrestling camp field trip.
