Below is a summary of the Caldwell School District Board of Trustees, February 27, 2023, Board Work Session intended to provide information about board decisions in a timely manner. It is not the official record. The recorded livestream of the meeting is available here.

Reading Proclamation - Trustees heard from Cheryl Griebenow, Caldwell High School Librarian, and Anita Wilson, Caldwell High School Principal, about the work CHS is doing to encourage students to read. March is read across America Month and throughout the month, each school in the District is doing a different reading event to inspire lifelong leaders. The Board voted to proclaim the month of March as Read Across the District Month.

Preschool Classrooms - Caldwell School District Parents, shared their thoughts with Trustees about the possibility of getting cameras in preschool classrooms. 

Driver Education - Lisa Velasquez, Director of Driver Education, provided Trustees with information and an update on Driver’s Education. 

Strategic Plan - Dr. French discussed the District's strategic plan. The Board is allowing the Strategic Planning Committee to regroup and provide updates to the District’s Strategic Plan. 

Academic Update - The Caldwell Writing Assessment is taking place this week in grades K-11, and will now be referred to as Talk About Writing Day. The IStation literacy window will be taking place next week. The calendar committee will be sending out calendars for parents and staff to vote on this week. 

CEE Survey - The District will be taking the CEE Survey starting March 7, 2023. Parents will be invited to take this survey during parent teacher conferences.  

Personnel Report - The Board voted to approve the personnel report. 

JUUL Litigation - Trustees voted to approve the JUUL Litigation motion.

COVID-19 School Operation Plan for 2022-2023 - Southwest District Health did not provide an update this week.
