The Caldwell School District Board of Trustees adopts, revises and amends the policies that guide the public education of Caldwell students. All policies established by the Board of Trustees must be consistent with the laws covering public education in the State of Idaho and the United States and must follow guidelines established by the Idaho Legislature and State Board of Education.
The board establishes district priorities through approval of the budget, monitors student achievement and approves changes in academic offerings and district staffing.
The board also hires, evaluates and works as a unified team with the superintendent.
It is the job of the superintendent to work with an administrative team to creatively execute policies set by the board. The superintendent also is the board’s professional advisor to whom the board delegates executive responsibility.
Each of the five trustees represents specific geographic zones in the district. Individual members have no authority to act on their own but meet as a board in a formal session. They receive no salaries or benefits and are elected to a four year term.
The Board of Trustee meets the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. Those meetings are open to the public.
