SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT


Dr. French recognized Senior Abigail Bair for using all her Fast Forward Funding. Abigail has taken 9 Advanced Opportunity Summer School classes, 8 Dual Credit classes, and 2 AP exams. She will finish up her senior year with 2 more AP exams and at least 1 more Dual Credit class. She will graduate with 31 College Credits which will cut down approximately a year of her college general education requirements. 


Dr. French also applauded the Boy’s Soccer Team for winning the 2022 State Championship. The Cougars finished the season undefeated. They scored a total of 97 goals and only allowed 9 goals scored all season. The team was led by Seniors Sam Yeakley, Axel Gonzalez, Yahir Esquivel, and Israel Arizmendi. The Cougars boasted a 20-0-1 record, the best recorded in Caldwell High School history.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • Latinos In Action - Trustees heard from Shani Cummins, English Language Learner Coordinator, about the new Latinos in Action course at Caldwell High School. The goal of the class is to empower Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities through college and career readiness. The LIA student’s spoke to Trustees about their leadership opportunities which includes tutoring elementary school students. Students also gifted Board Members Latinos in Action T-shirts. 
  • Caldwell Youth Forum - Board Members heard from Sophomores Jolette Peralta and Cheyenne Garza about their experience at the Caldwell Youth Forum. 60 students from Caldwell High School and other area high schools were selected to attend this year’s Forum. They are recognized as leaders in their schools and have the responsibility to share what they learned from the Forum with their peers. Jolette and Cheyenne are going to begin a Good Morning Project, where they greet students and staff in the morning in positive ways such as a smile and with music.
  • Measures of Student Growth as per Idaho Code 33-1001(18) - Board Members voted to approve the Measures of Student Growth as per Idaho Code 33-1001(18).
  • COVID-19 School Operation Plan for 2021-2022 - Trustees did not receive a COVID-19 update from Southwest District Health. 
  • Future Agenda Items - Trustees did not discuss any future agenda items.
