SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French recognized Caldwell High School TRIO Upward Bound student Julissa Hernandez Alejandre for being one of only 100 public high school juniors from across the United States to be named a LEDA Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America Scholar. She attended a fully-funded, five-week Summer Institute at Princeton University, designed to prepare Scholars for admission to the nation's most selective colleges and universities. Julissa shared her experience at the Ivy League School with Trustees. Advisor Mr. Josh Engler was excited for Julissa to have this amazing experience.


Dr. French also recognized Nicholas Mendez, Caldwell High School Sophomore, for being selected as a member of Superintendent Ybarra's Student Advisory Council. Students from different grade levels, backgrounds, cultures, school size, and areas within Idaho serve on the council to share their opinions and offer advice about educational opportunities and policy in Idaho.


Keegan Ferro, Senior at Caldwell High School, also spoke to Trustees about taking advantage of the Advanced Opportunity Fast Forward Funds. He has used all $4,125 available to him.


Paul Victoriano, Student Representative, told Trustees about the Homecoming festivities going on at Caldwell High School this week.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • 2022-2023 Player and Parent Activities/Athletics Manual - Jon Hallock, Caldwell High School Activities Director, reported there were only a few logistical changes made to the 2022-2023 Player and Parent Activities/Athletics Manual. Mr. Hallock shared the improvement in student-athletes grades and academics since the academic standards CHS implemented four years ago. The Board voted to approve the 2022-2023 Player and Parent Activities/Athletics Manual.
  • Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) - Trustees reviewed and discussed the Continuous Improvement Plan Metrics provided by the State. The Board voted to approve the Continuous Improvement Plan. The CIP plan must be submitted to the Idaho State Department of Education each year before October 1.
  • SRO Contract for 2022-2023 - The Board reviewed and discussed the 2022-2023 SRO Contract. Trustees appreciate the service our SRO’s provide for our staff and students throughout the school day and at after school activities. Trustees voted to accept and approve the SRO Contract for 2022-2023.
  • L-2 Tax Levy - Cheryl Sanderson, Chief Financial Officer, discussed the L-2 Tax Levy and with Trustees. The Board voted to accept the L-2 Tax Levy. 
  • COVID-19 School Operation Plan for 2022-2023 - Trustees reviewed recent COVID-19 data and information provided by Southwest District Health.
