SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French recognized the Syringa Middle School 6th grade ‘Little Einsteins’ Team. Adelyne Amaya, Raeneasha Linze, Maritza Medina, and Natalia Valencia competed in the Idaho Regional iSTEM IDX 3D Design and Engineering competition in Boise. The only all girl team won first place for the greater Treasure Valley. They were rewarded a $250 check and a new 3D printer. Their invention was a fully functional solution for astronauts to dispose of their toothpaste while in space, so they wouldn’t have to swallow it, which can have negative effects. With their invention, astronauts spit into the spill-proof straw which is suctioned down the toilet.


Dr. French also applauded the Caldwell High School Speech and Debate Team. Lance Morris honored Senior Kaylee Johnson. Kaylee qualified for the State Speech Tournament. The team also won the National Speech and Debate Association Honor of Charter.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • Caldwell Youth Forum Presentation - Representatives from the Caldwell Youth Forum presented to Trustees about their trip to Bogus Basin. Students spoke to Board Members about how they built leadership skills during their trip by doing simple things like talking to people they may not know and taking risks. Students continue to incorporate the things they learned during their trip in their everyday lives.
  • School Calendar for 2022-2023 - Melissa Langan, Chief Academic Officer, discussed the Calendar Committees decision on the 2022-23 School Calendar. The Board approved Calendar C for the upcoming school year.  
  • Secondary School Registration Update - Trustees heard from Principal Shay Swan about Syringa Middle School’s process on registering students for the upcoming school year. 
  • Call of Certain Bonds 2008A and 2008B - April Burton, Chief Financial Officer, proposed a resolution to pay off Bonds 2008A and 2008B. Trustees voted to approve the resolution for redemption of certain bonds.
  • COVID19 School Operation Plan for 2021-2022 - The Board reviewed recent COVID-19 Data and Information. 
  • Future Agenda Item - Trustees did not discuss any future agenda items.

Trusteed voted to move all the policies under Errata Revisions to first reading.

Members of the Board voted to approve the following policies with a Errata Revision on Policy 3370P to substitute the word car for vehicle.

The Board of Trustees will meet again on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 6:00 pm for a Board Work Session.
