ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET HEARING

Cheryl Sanderson, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Annual School District Budget to the Trustees. The Budget Hearing included information about budget assumptions and benefits, a four-year summary, and the failure of the Supplemental Levy funding.

Public Comment Regarding the 2024-2025 Proposed Budget:

  • Trustees received input and comments from patrons on the 2024-2025 proposed budget.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Kim Hasenoehrl, Caldwell Fine Arts (CFA) Executive Director, shared her appreciation for the positive relationship between the District and Caldwell Fine Arts. She also spoke about how CFA is offering more opportunities for students.

Dr. French recognized Maylee McConnell-Soong and Keira Ferro for their work on the True Leaders in Equity Project. Maylee and Keira have been working on this project for the past two years. The project’s focus is on food and nutrition insecurity in high school athletics. In partnership with the University of Idaho Extension Program, Maylee and Keira provided the track team at Caldwell High School with new water bottles and over 200 nutritious snack bags for use at practices and during track meets. 

Students involved in Latinos in Action also spoke to Trustees about a conference they attended last month. Students listened to an inspirational guest speaker, participated in breakout sessions, and networked with other students across the Northwest.

  • Patrons provided input on the new boundaries for 5th and 6th grade students.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • Adoption and Approval of the 2024-2025 Budget - Trustees voted to approve and accept the 2024-2025 Budget.
  • Pay to Play Fees - Jon Hallock, Caldwell High School Athletic Director, provided Trustees with information on how the pay to play fee will help supplement athletic and activity costs. Anita Wilson, Caldwell High School Principal, also provided Board Members with information about increasing the ASB fees from $35 to $50. Trustees voted to request a fee hearing.
  • Lincoln Elementary School Closure - Trustees voted to approve the closure of Lincoln Elementary School.
  • Proposed Elementary School Boundaries - Trustees heard from Paul Webster, Community Schools Coordinator, on the proposed Elementary School Boundaries. Board Members voted to approve the proposed Elementary School Boundaries
  • 2025 Idaho School Board Association (ISBA) Resolutions - Trustees voted to move forward with submitting a 2025 Idaho School Board Association (ISBA) Resolution.
  • Future Agenda Items - Town Hall discussion on Supplemental Levy Election
