SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Dr. French provided Trustees with information on the Play2Learn Program and encouraged Board Members to attend and observe it in action. The program is held every Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am for children ages 0-5 at Lincoln Elementary School. Participants receive parenting tips, access to early intervention screening tools, learn ways to improve executive functioning skills at home, and much more.
Dr. French also shared information about the Traveling Table Food Pantry. This provides families with free boxes of healthy food on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. If you are interested in volunteering, sign up by clicking here.
Caldwell High School Report - Nick Mendez, Caldwell High School Student Representative, provided Trustees and patrons with an update on academics, athletics, and activities happening at Caldwell High School.

- Idaho Power Cohort for Schools - Idaho Power is offering the Caldwell School District the opportunity to participate in the Continuous Energy Efficiency Improvement Cohort Program. The Cohort is a unique training opportunity focused on building skills and interest in energy efficiency while achieving persistent energy savings. The Cohort is an extended engagement with up to five years of direct energy efficiency coaching support for each participating facility. The Maintenance Department will continue to work on the project and present an update to the Board in October.
- 2023-2024 Financial Audit - Dr. French shared that the 2023-2024 Audit is currently taking place and will provide Trustees with the final audit information at the October 14, Regular Board Meeting.
- ISBA’s Proposed Legislative Resolutions - The Board voted to cosponsor the following resolutions:
- Restoration of Lottery Funds for School Maintenance - Twin Falls School District
- Opposition to Public Funds Funding Private School Tuition - Boise School District
- Latitude for CTE Personnel Funding - Pocatello School District
- Needs-Based Grant Fund for School Facilities - West Bonner School District
- Idaho School Board Association (ISBA) Convention - Trustees will let the Board Clerk know if they are interested in attending the ISBA Convention, November 6-8, 2024, at the Boise Centre.
- Canyon County 2024 Tax Levy - Trustees voted to approve the 2024 L2 Form that will be submitted to the Canyon County Commissioners.
