August 23, 2021 Special Meeting

Resolution on School Board Authority

Trustees approved a slight revision to a resolution they submitted to the Idaho School Boards Association. The Trustees would like the ISBA to consider adopting the resolution as part of their legislative agenda in November.

Boys & Girls Club -

The Board approved accepting the Boys & Girls Club into the Caldwell School District. The Boys & Girls Club of Nampa has received a grant to expand its services and is working with the Caldwell School District to open a Club in Caldwell. The district is finalizing an agreement with the Boys & Girls Club to use classroom space at the Indian Creek Academy and to consider after-school programs at schools that don’t currently have a 21st Century program. The schools being considered are Wilson, Washington, and Van Buren. The Board will review a Memorandum of Understanding with the Boys & Girls Club at the regular September Board Meeting. Programs could start in September.

Vaping Litigation -

 
After a briefing with its legal counsel, the Board approved joining a multi-school district lawsuit against JUUL, maker of e-cigarettes and vaping products.

 

COVID-19 School Operation Plan 2021-2022 -  

 

The Board approved the 2021-22 COVID-19 School Operation Plan with the district’s illness policy to be included. Highlights include: remote and hybrid learning models if change is warranted, K-12 quarantine, and athletic activities. Trustees also approved requiring masks of parents, caregivers, and visitors to schools and district buildings. 

 

Personnel Report - The Board approved the report.

 

Future Agenda Items - The board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021, to discuss mask policy in schools and review current COVID data.
