SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Superintendent N. Shalene French shared elementary school registration went well last week. Secondary schools shared that many families registered online.

The recent rainstorm resulted in no leaks in any schools’ roofs. The roof on the Popular building has been repaired. 

PATRON INPUT

Madam Chair Pesina reviewed emails from Dr. Victoria Young and Matt Barrand. No one signed up to speak to the board.

  • Medical Panel Discussion on COVID: Trustees received information and asked questions about COVID in our community and the impact on children from Dr. Richard Augustus at West Valley Medical Center and Dr. Kenny Bramwell of St.Luke’s.

 

 

  • School Operation Plan for 2021-2022 - Dr. French reviewed various pieces of information provided to trustees including results from a survey of parents and staff and the most recent draft of the operations plan. She shared the goal is for schools to remain open serving students every day. 
    • The Board voted to recommend masks be worn by staff and students in schools. 
    • On Aug. 23, the Board will consider the full 2021-22 operations plan at a special meeting which includes a recommendation that masks be required for visitors to schools.
  • 2021-2022 CHS Athletics and Activities  - The Board approved the player and parent manual for 2021-22. 
  • Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) - The district is working on components of the plan which must be submitted Oct. 1 to the Office of the State Board of Education. The Board also discussed surveys 
  • Future Agenda Items - COVID plan, CIP, Superintendent evaluations; Principal Wilson would like to present on Career Technical Education and Advanced Opportunities programs; follow up to Caldwell Police Department requests for gun safes in secondary schools
