BOARD REPORT


Below is a summary of the Caldwell School District Board of Trustees March 9, 2020 meeting intended to provide information about board decisions in a timely manner. It is not the official record. Minutes, the official record of the meeting, are finalized the following month after approval by the board.


EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

The Board held an executive session prior to the start of the regular meeting.


After returning to open session, the Board decided to:

  • Not accept a request for an employee to resign and be released from their contract.
  • Approve administrative leave for an employee; 
  • Approve administrative leave and removal of leave for an employee;

INFORMATION ITEMS

 

CFEO Outstanding Student Achievement Award

 

Sacajawea Elementary School Principal Paul Webster reviewed the schools new vision and mission and a new positive referral program to recognize them as leaders. He introduced the Board to 14 students who were honored as #SkyhawkLeaders

 

Student Recognition 


Caldwell High School Principal Anita Wilson introduced the school’s student council which was recognized as an Outstanding Student Council for the sixth consecutive year and Advisor Andi Arnold was named Student Council Advisor of the Year for Idaho. 


Caldwell High School girls basketball team was recognized for their achievements this year including winning their first district title and then placing third place in the state and receiving the state tournament sportsmanship award.

REGULAR AGENDA


Sports update - CHS Activities Director John Hallock reported that new academic and attendance standards for athletes -- pass all classes and not exceed absence and tardy limits - took effect with winter sports. Most athletes met the new standards for winter sports. With spring sports, they’ve identified a petition process for a one-time appeal and made tutoring available. They’ve started to work with student athletes expected to play fall sports. Team grade point averages have increased in some sports.

 

Managed Internet Access Agreement - The Board approved a three-year contract with Tek-Hut for internet, firewall, and filter services for the district. Tek-Hut is the district’s current provider for these services.
