Digital Citizenship

October 17th-21st, 2022
This year more than ever, we are all digital citizens. Join us in celebrating Digital Citizenship Week (October 19th-23rd) with these resources from Common Sense Education!

Being a digital citizen is all about taking ownership of our actions and using technology responsibly and respectfully. During Digital Citizenship Week, and all year long, Common Sense is here to help with free activities and lessons to teach kids how to learn, create, and participate responsibly in the digital world.

Are you engaging families in safe and responsible tech use?

What is Digital Citizenship and How Do We Teach It?
According to Chris Zook from Applied Educational Systems,"digital citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society on any level."
  • Good digital citizenship engages young students and shows them how to connect with one another, empathize with each other, and create lasting relationships through digital tools.
  • Bad digital citizenship, on the other hand, entails cyber-bullying, irresponsible social media usage, and a general lack of knowledge about how to safely use the Internet.
