School Bus Safety
Waiting for the Bus:
- Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes early.
- Stand at least 10 feet away from the curb while waiting.
- Avoid playing or running near the road.
Board the Bus:
- Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
- Use the handrail when boarding the bus.
- Walk in single file and avoid pushing or shoving.
Riding the Bus:
- Stay seated and face forward throughout the ride.
- Keep the aisle clear of backpacks, books, and other items.
- Speak quietly to avoid distracting the driver.
- Keep hands arms, and objects inside the bus at all times.
Exiting the Bus:
- Wait for the bus to stop completely before standing up.
- Use the handrail when stepping off the bus.
- Walk 10 feet ahead of the bus and make eye contact with the driver and wait for their signal before crossing.
- Never walk behind the bus.
General Safety Tips:
- Follow the driver's instructions at all times.
- Never attempt to retrieve dropped items near or under the bus without alerting the driver.
- Report any unsafe behavior or concerns to the school staff.
