January 13, 2025 Annual & Regular Board Meeting

Below is a summary of the Caldwell School District Board of Trustees, January 13, 2025, Annual and Regular meeting intended to provide information about board decisions in a timely manner. It is not the official record. The recorded live stream of the meeting is available here.


ANNUAL ORGANIZATION MEETING:

Each year, School District Boards of Trustees hold an Annual Meeting, as required by law, to elect officers and other required business.

  • Elect Board Officers (Chairman and Vice-Chairman) - Trustees nominated and approved Travis Manning as Chairman and Trustee Marisela Pesina as Vice Chair of the Board.
  • Elect Treasurer and Clerk - Trustees nominated and approved Manuel Godina as Treasurer and Jessica Watts as Board Clerk.
  • Set Time, Date, Place for Meetings - Trustees approved their regular meetings for the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. They also identified dates and times for board work sessions. 
  • Established agenda and notice posting locations, including those required by law. Agenda and notice postings will continue to be posted at the District Office (1200 Grant St. Caldwell, ID) and on the District Website.
  • Established signatories, unless already indicated in district policy. 

 

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French recognized Mr. David Cole, Music Teacher at Van Buren Elementary, for winning the VFW's Idaho Teacher of the Year Award. In addition, Dr. French also provided Trustees with an update on the PowerSchool Cybersecurity Incident. The District will continue to work with PowerSchool to make sure the District’s data is secure. Dr. French also provided Board Members with a PowerPoint of the District’s Ambitious Goals for the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Caldwell High School Report - Nick Mendez, Student Representative from Caldwell High School, provided Trustees with an update on the school’s recent academics, athletics, and activities. 

Canyon Springs High School - Maxwell Petersen, Student Representative from Canyon Springs High School, shared information with Trustees about the schools Sources of Strength program, school activities, and spirit week.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • MOU with the City of Caldwell - Trustees voted to approve the MOU with the City of Caldwell, regarding the pathway easement between Jayhawk subdivision and Brothers Park.
  • Tools of the Mind Kindergarten PD Feb. 12 - The District would like to provide a one-day of professional development for early learning professionals on February 12, 2025. To do this, the District will need to cancel Kindergarten classes on February 12, 2025. Trustees voted to approved the Tools of the Mind Kindergarten Professional Development Day on February 12, 2025.
  • Future Agenda Items - Trustees did not discuss future agenda items.
