Public Records Request

In accordance with the Idaho Public Records Act (Idaho Code 74-101 through 74-126), members of the public have the right to access certain records maintained by the Caldwell School District. We are committed to transparency and will respond promptly to all Public Records Requests.

What Can Be Requested

Response Time

Requests will be acknowledged or fulfilled within three (3) working days. Or the District will inform you if more time is needed.
Pursuant to Idaho Code Title 74, Chapter 1, if more time is needed to locate or review records, we may extend the response up to ten (10) working days, with written notice.

*Note: All requests received after normal business hours (excluding holidays) shall be deemed received the next business day.

How to Submit a Public Records Request

Public Records Requests must be submitted in writing. You can submit your request through one of the following:

PLEASE INCLUDE:

Your full name and contact information
A clear description of the records you're requesting (please be as specific as possible)
Preferred delivery method (email, mail, in-person review)

Fees

There is no charge for locating records or the first 100 pages.
Pursuant to Idaho State Code Chapter 3, Title 9, Public Record Requests MAY be subject to a copy and/or processing fee, which may be required prior to receipt of record(s). In accordance with Idaho Code, the Caldwell School District requires payment upfront for Public Records Requests to recover actual labor and copying costs if:
- The request is for more than one hundred (100) pages of paper records; or
- The actual labor associated with responding to requests for Public Records (in compliance with the Public Records Act) exceeds two (2) hours.
