Board of Realtors supports Caldwell's homeless children

In December of this school year, Dave Moore saw a story produced by Channel 7 in which Erin Gerry, counselor at Van Buren, discussed the adversity that homeless students face, and how their struggles affect their academic and social needs. He knew he needed to get involved, so Dave contacted Erin and asked her to speak to the Lions' Club.  Erin attended a lunch meeting with the members of the Lions' Club and was awarded a check (and slipped some cash) for the homeless students at Van Buren.

Dave was inspired to do more, so he elicited the help of Jeff Nunez. Together, these men arranged for a meeting with the Caldwell Board of Realtors and asked the Board for their support.

In April, an initial check of $600 was presented to the Caldwell School District with a commitment of the Board's ongoing support in the form of monthly checks.

Funds will be divided up between the counselors in Caldwell Schools.  The Board has given the counselors the latitude of using the funds at their discretion for things such as food, clothing, shoes, and emergency lodging.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that the Caldwell School District recognizes the compassionate and supportive people in this community
