Using Memes to Support Social-Emotional Learning

One of the key parts of doing distance learning or any type of hybrid instructional model is to monitor the social-emotional learning of your students.  Many teachers and counselors use a happy-sad face scale (like the pain scale in a doctor's office) to check in with students.  A fun twist on this is to use memes in place of the faces.  Make sure that you give students a chance to debrief (either orally or in writing) why they put themselves at the meme level that they did during your activity.  Here are some examples of meme scales that other teachers have used.  You can find a ton by doing a Google image search for "How are you feeling on a scale of memes" or you can borrow some of the images from my slide deck!
