Superintendent French interviews head nurse about tips for families on preventing disease.

good morning Caldwell today would like to give you some updates on information that we have received from health professionals we've invited our district nurse Cindy to be here would like just ask her some questions about what she is running from Southwest District Health and the CDC so Cindy that there's a lot of maybe misinformation and individuals might not know exactly what they should be looking for or what they should do to care for themselves we do know our students will be out of school Wednesday Thursday Friday and then for the week of spring break what recommendations will you make for them while they're there away probably one of the main things has to keep the hand-washing going so you wash your hands for a good 20 seconds social distancing is a good idea so you want to make sure that you stay within within six feet of someone it's kind of hard for droplets that they would sneeze or cough to get on you that way you feel like you're getting sick check your temperature so one of the one of the ways is your temperature check and see if you have a cough and if any shortness of breath at all let your healthcare provider know now on Sunday the 1st if they are feeling like they are concerned or they feel like they have they may need to report we've been recommending in the CDC has been recommending as well as Southwest District Health to contact Southwest District Health First we're going to a doctor or the hospital or emergency room to check with them they do have a hotline and they call there and then Southwest District Health will give them Direction correct that is correct for the hotline number for our area is 208 4555 411 they will call you call them they get the information to their epidemiologist and then usually they will call you back so I think right now what most people are doing when they call and they have been close to somebody that has been positive they are on quarantine for 14 days themselves but don't receive that direction from Southwest District Health so again that number was 208-4555 for 11 and if a family member's doesn't feel well call the number and then they can give directions to next steps for those those individuals correct so much smarter than in a dating are hospitals and urgent cares it's also allergy season and so there's some confusion as to how a person feels we still have flu season and so there's just mix there's just some mixed messages or maybe your body is telling you something and you're not quite sure that's why it's important to call the hotline first right it could be maybe you have asthma your asthma is acting up allergies are of course taking in at this point we still have the leftover flu because not everybody got their flu shot a point for getting a flu shot is there anything else that has come out today that you've heard from you maybe that the CDC has changed in the last 48 hours they went from Gatherings of 250 people which is smart because that's where you're going to get the most Community spread the other thing is another bit of news that we want to make sure that our Trends in our parents and students are aware of the Idaho High School athletics Association and Activities Association has suspended all athletic spring sports that they dance and cheer competition has been canceled and will not be rescheduled they're still considering the speech and debate if that's a possibility but they are going to play scuse me they will wait to see how things are on a day-to-day but right now I'll spring Sports and I'll spring Sports in the Caldwell school district have been suspended until further notice that also includes practices with that we appreciate your time and will keep you updated
