April 8, 2024 Regular Board Meeting

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. French recognized Jon Hallock for being named the 2024 IHSAA State Athletic Director of the Year for the 4A Classification.


Dr. French also applauded Seniors Johanna Rangel and Hannah Harder. They will be competing in the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Chicago in May. Johanna will be competing in Accounting Fundamentals and Hannah will be competing in Ethics and Professionalism.


The Caldwell High School Wrestling and Cheer teams were also recognized for their successful seasons this year. 


Caldwell High School Report - Noely Nunez provided Trustees with an update about the school's academic, activities, and athletics. Nick Mendez, Student Representative, was out of town, as NASA flew him out to view the eclipse. 

Canyon Springs High School Report - Era Salazar, Student Representative from Canyon Springs High School, provided Trustees with an update on parent-teacher conferences, attendance, and donations.

REGULAR AGENDA

  • Sacajawea Elementary School - Trustees heard from Principal Ben Jackson, on how the school is building community. Throughout the school year, over 1,600 people have attended school events.
  • Jefferson Middle School - Karen Cameron, Principal at Jefferson Middle School, explained how the school is improving school culture, needs assessments, and maximizing student growth.
  • Writers in the School - Shelley-Jeane Soule, Educator at JDC, provided information on the Writers in the School Program. This program is designed to foster creativity, communication, and self-discovery in classrooms and juvenile detention centers throughout the Treasure Valley.
  • 2025-2026 School Calendar - Melissa Langan, Chief Academic Officer, spoke to the 2025-2026 school calendar survey. Option B had the highest percentage of votes from both parents and staff. Trustees voted to approve Option B for the 2025-2026 school calendar.
  • 4th Grade Idaho History Curricular Resource - Melissa Langan, Chief Academic Officer, spoke about the process of choosing the District's new 4th Grade Idaho History Curricular Resource. Trustees will vote on the 4th Grade Idaho History Curricular Resource later this month.
  • Superintendent Evaluation - Trustees voted to approve the completed 2023-2024 Superintendent Evaluation.
  • Superintendent Contract - Board Members voted to approve the 2023-2024 Superintendent contract and to extend it to the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Future Agenda Items - Trustees did not discuss any future agenda items.
