March 9, 2026 Regular Board Meeting

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Dr. French recognized the Caldwell High School Wrestling Team for their recent success at the State Championship Tournament. The girls' team brought home the District Title as well as a 4th place finish at the State Tournament. The boys' team finished 2nd at the District Tournament, along with one State Champion. 

In addition, Dr. French also applauded the Caldwell High School Cheer Team for their outstanding season. They came in 2nd place at the National Competition. 

Lastly, Dr. French acknowledged the students who placed at this year's National History Day Competition. This year's theme was Revolution, Reaction, and Reform.


Caldwell High School Report - Kasen Obregon, Student Representative for Caldwell High School, provided Trustees with an update on the school's athletics, activities, and future events for the month.

Canyon Springs High School Report - Canyon Springs High School Student Representative, Sebastian Valenzuela, provided the Trustees with an update on the school's activities, academics, and recent events.

INFORMATION ITEMS

  • Plant Facility Report - Bernie Carriera, Director of Maintenance and Operations, provided Trustees with information on maintenance projects happening across the District.

REGULAR AGENDA

A. Property at 516 N. 11th Ave. - Dr. French and Cheryl Sanderson spoke to Trustees about the property located at 516 N. 11th Ave, the old Canyon Springs High School. Ms. Sanderson shared that the building did not receive a bid for purchase. Trustees voted to move forward to sell the property located at 516 N. 11th Ave. without a minimum bid.
B. Program Reduction - Dr. French and Chantel Kelly, Caldwell High School Principal, discussed a proposed reduction in programs at Caldwell High School. Ms. Kelly noted that the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is experiencing a decline in student enrollment. Trustees will discuss the program reduction at the March 23, 2026, Special Board Meeting. In addition, the District will also provide Board Members with additional information on CTE courses.
C. Future Agenda Items - Trustees did not discuss any future agenda items.
