CHS Orchestra Concert Features Special Guestposted 10/15/2012
The Caldwell High School Orchestra welcomes Dr. Lisa Derry as their guest piano soloist in their upcoming concert, October 16th. Dr. Derry teaches music theory, aural skills, composition and music technology at the College of Idaho. Additionally, she teaches a small studio of community piano students and coordinates the Caldwell Fine Arts Piano Festival in the spring. Lisa Derry came to The College of Idaho in 1993 after teaching previously at The College of Saint Teresa in Winona MN and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She received degrees in piano and music theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Ph.D. in Music Theory from Indiana University with complementary emphases in piano and musicology. She currently serves as President of the Caldwell Fine Arts Board and is an avid/obsessive tennis player. One of her favorite partners is Gini Rosandick, the director of orchestras at Caldwell High School. Dr. Derry will perform two movements from Ernest Bloch’s, Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra with Piano Obligato with the high school Symphonic Orchestra. Student soloists who will also be featured are: Heidi Olsen, Mackenzie Herrera, Kelsie Hammer, Lauren McKinnon, Camille Leavitt, Mckenzie Mangun and Tyler Hamilton. The concert will begin at 7:30 in the Caldwell High School auditorium and is a free concert!
